And here are some logo works for a commission.

Summer Art

So I have been painting here and there lately, but mostly just enjoying summer break. Here are two recent works.

Febuary 4, 2013

Today I played around with the field after I laid in the horizon and tree. Much more work to be done but I am quite interested to see the results.

Febuary 2, 2013

The sky is started today. Puffy clouds to come soon!

Febuary 1, 2013

Second conceptual piece of the year. I am very excited to see what this one turns into. Hoping to play around with more transparent glazes and really work on field grass.

January 31, 2013

And its finally finished.... for now. I really like how this one turned out. It has the soft movements that I wanted and its a conceptual piece which I wanted to make more of this year.

January 30, 2013

Today I worked on the sheets at night painting. I think its coming along nicely and am really liking how liquitex glaze works. Its does exactly what I want it to do. Nice. Well, I took two days off for some sick time and now I am back on the 90 days wagon. Wohoo!

January 27, 2013

Coming along nicely. I played around with the fabrics today and shading. I bought some transparent glaze for acrylics and have been using that. It works really well so far but it speeds drying time.

January 26, 2013

So today I worked in some tiny stars and blocked in the fabrics. Still very excited!

january 24 2013

I started a big old painting tonight. I plan on slowly working on it for quite some time.

January 23, 2013

Well here is a sketch of a piece of rainbow chard. Im not that impressed with it but I did not know what else to paint tonight. Maybe I start into oils or acrylics soon!

January 21, 2013

I painted a still life with Carol today. Pomegranates and oranges. The seeds were daunting but I am glad that I went with it.

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Working on another conceptual piece. I realize that I need a model to work from to get the feeling of it right. Perhaps all of these conceptual pieces will weave themselves together sometime to make some monumental artwork. Perhaps.

1/19/2013

I love this painting and the photo that it is based on so much. So much movement and rhythm in this. Im glad I spent two days on this instead of one sitting.

1/18/2013

Tonight I revisited an old photograph. I love the flow of this picture, how your eye is led throughout and gets left in little pockets in the image. This is an under painting, more of a blocking in, so that I can revisit tomorrow with some clarity. Maybe I will get lost in the little pockets tomorrow as well.

1/17/2013

i revisited my old friend the umbrella bonsai today. its trunk is always so fascinating and full of twists and turns. it is the ideal line drawing subject. very soo i will start transitioning into complete artworks from sketches.

January 16, 2013

Today I did some sketching in ink from a photograph that I took this summer.

Monday, January 14, 2013

January 14, 2013

Today I finished the fruit bowl. I like working with clear glass that doesnt have unnecessary twists and turns. Simple glass is fun to work with!

January 13 2013

Today I worked on a bowl of lemons and oranges. Mostly I played in the studio today for a few hours, organizing and getting images ready in case I run out of still life stuff. So I was quite comfortable sitting back and looking at fruit for an hour or so.

January 12, 2013

Orchids again, I cant get enough of them. I bought some vine charcoal on my art supply date tonight and I wanted to experiment with line quality again so I found something twisting and turning. Hopefully I will be able to find a human model to use soon.

January 11 2013

Today is another conceptual day. Sketching mostly for a future artwork. I have a clothes on the clothes line series that I did once before that I would like to revisit. Im thinking laundry blowing in the nighttime breeze, maybe with some figures in it. Probably will make that one in oil paint as I can achieve so many darks and layering with oils. We shall see...

January 8th 2013

Cupcake! So I once again find inspiration in the kitchen. I swear that someday I will make a series about food, and how cool it looks in its simplest form. At first I felt that others would look sadly at my cupcake that I only frosted so that I could paint it. Its kind of sad, not really poofy, and is made from a box mix. But then I realized that... its all good. Its not pretentious. Its tasty. Also its the first time in my life I have painted a cupcake... CHECK!

January 8th 2013

Today I painted my amaryllis flower that bloomed this morning. I kind of grew bored of all of the red and remembered why amaryllis flowers are amazing to look at and not so much fun to paint. Until tomorrow...

january 7th 2013

I painted a glass oil lamp today. Very challenging with all of the reflections.

Sunday January 5th

Today I made two small pastel paintings of an orchid. There are loads of beautiful blooms and buds just waiting to pop open. I think that the buds are just as interesting as the blooms.

Thursday, January 3, 2013

Tonight I did a swift sky study. I have been comfortable working small lately and hope to gradually get larger and larger format. But I guess I have lots of time in these consecutive days of painting to get to that.

January 1, 2013 I Begin Again

Today marks the beginning, again. Over the next 90 days or so I will advance my art ability, push myself mentally and physically, and rediscover once again why I chose to have art in my life. Art is a friend of mine, that sometimes I put aside to accomplish lifes less meaningful  tasks. But art presents itself to me daily, in a sunrise, a person sitting on a park bench, or just when the light hits an object and electrifies its existence. So on goes the art hat, and I plunge myself into the infinite abyss.

Day 1 some drawings with ink.
